Muirkirk Angling Association

Message from the Committee

A very warm welcome to all of our members, both long-standing and new. Thank you for your continued support of the Muirkirk Angling Association. As we enter the 2024 season, we would like to remind everyone of the importance of keeping our waters clean and sustainable. Please remember to take all your rubbish home with you during your fishing trips, and stay safe while enjoying the beauty of our natural surroundings. We encourage all members to be mindful of the environment, as we aim to preserve these incredible fishing locations for future generations to enjoy.

Tickets

Tickets can only be collected via prior arrangement. We urge all members to secure their tickets early, as demand during peak seasons can be high. Please refer to our ticket page for more information about availability and collection instructions. Don't miss out on the opportunity to experience some of the best fishing in Scotland!

Pollution

A small adjustment has been made to the River Ayr Rules in response to increased concerns regarding water pollution. We kindly ask all anglers to respect the updated guidelines and report any suspicious activities to the committee. Protecting the health of our rivers is essential to ensuring that we can continue enjoying high-quality fishing experiences year after year.

Visiting Juvenile Members

From the 2024 season, visiting Juvenile Members will be charged £5 to join. A valid proof of age must be provided, such as a birth certificate or official ID. This initiative allows younger anglers to enjoy the beauty of our waters while maintaining a fair contribution to the upkeep of the association. Please note that when a member reaches the age of 16, they will be placed on the waiting list for full membership, as spaces are limited.

Explore the River Ayr

The River Ayr is one of the most iconic rivers in Scotland, offering world-class fishing opportunities and breathtaking scenery. Whether you're an experienced angler or just starting out, the River Ayr provides an ideal setting for an unforgettable fishing experience. From its tranquil headwaters near Glenbuck to its majestic flow through Muirkirk, the river boasts an abundance of Brown Trout, Salmon, and Sea Trout, making it a paradise for fishing enthusiasts.

The river is particularly known for its excellent Salmon runs during the late summer and autumn months, with the best times to fish typically being from late September onward. The clear, fast-running waters are perfect for fly-fishing, and there are plenty of quiet, scenic spots along the river where you can cast your line in peace.
